WiFi Antennas
Whether you are planning on installing an internet access point in your home or office, or planning on using some type of 802.11 radio communication — you are going to need a WiFi antenna to complete your installation. At AIR802, we manufacture a number of different WiFi antennas, each designed with specifications for certain applications. Here is brief overview of some of the most popular and efficient WiFi antennas we offer:
Omni-Directional Antennas
This WiFi antenna style is designed to provide 360 degree coverage. Indoor and outdoor omni-directional antennas are both available. Some antennas are also designed to be installed on the ceiling (ceiling mounted) or as a plug-in where high gain requirements exist. While omni-directional antennas provide coverage in all 360 degrees, they also will allow any undesired noise to be received. Thus, if coverage is not needed in all directions a more directional style antenna may be preferred to focus radio frequency energy to the desired areas. Also, omni-directional antennas may be a single frequency band or a dual-band covering multiple frequency bands.
WiFi Yagi Antenna
This type of antenna is designed for semi-directional communications. They provide somewhere less than the 360 degree coverage of an omni-directional antenna, but they have a much broader beamwidth than a grid style antenna. The higher the gain, the narrower the beamwidth coverage will be. For those who wish to install an antenna which covers campuses, corporate facilities, or government networks, they may wish to look into purchasing a WiFi yagi antenna. It features an outer protective covering, so it can be placed outdoors and be trusted to withstand various degrees of weather. It can also stream wireless video such as security camera footage.
Grid Antennas
This large grid WiFi antenna is designed for long distance signals and connections (point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connections). Grid antennas are highly directional antenna and this type of antenna must be installed outside — most likely on the roof of a building or communications tower– it too is designed to withstand the natural elements such as wind gusts and rain.
